Bigger Brains has found that most people are confused about what Office 365 actually is. Many think of it as just the traditional Office apps – Word, Excel, etc – but paid for with a monthly fee. Some just think of it as Hosted Exchange or maybe SharePoint.
If you pay attention to what Microsoft is doing, there are a lot of very interesting things being done inside the Office 365 ecosystem. It’s clear that Microsoft envisions a future where Office 365 is once again the center of the business productivity world, just like Outlook was and still is for many people.
(And it must be working – Office 365 is the fastest-growing product in Microsoft’s history!)
Two new applications inside Office 365 illustrate this perfectly: Groups and Planner. Groups is a group collaboration tool offering a shared area for conversations, calendar, file sharing, notes, and connections to outside tools like Zendesk or Asana. Planner works with Groups and adds a simple but powerful project delegation and team management function. Both are pretty easy to use and available for any Office 365 business plan users to set up on their own.
Bigger Brains is proud to be the first in the industry to launch training courses on Office 365 Groups and Planner, as part of a new series of courses that also includes OneDrive, Skype for Business, and the Outlook Web App.
