What’s Brewing at Bigger Brains? A cold brew with a shot of espresso!

In our monthly blog segment “What’s Brewing at Bigger Brains,” I’m happy to introduce members of the Bigger Brains team of experts (and the coffees that they bring to the Teams meeting table). Today let’s meet Aaron Bauer!

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

I enjoy being able to exercise a variety of skills in my work (as well as learning new ones) and working with a fantastic team.

What does it mean to you to be a leader?

I think this varies a little based on the exact role. In general, I’d say someone who respects and listens to their team but can also be decisive when necessary. In my case, I think it means being accessible to the team to provide assistance or input when needed.

How do you prioritize your many responsibilities?

It’s often a challenge. But I typically prioritize the most time-sensitive stuff first, followed by anything that other people may be counting on. Things are rarely that straight forward though, and I usually find myself juggling tasks.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Playing games, grilling, or trying new restaurants with my friends and my beautiful fiancée Lydia, pictured above. I also really love learning new skills.

What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

I’m a first-generation grad, and it was quite an adventure to get there!

What is your motto or personal mantra?

“It doesn’t matter.” This may sound like an extremely apathetic motto out of context. It’s something I repeat to myself when life gets difficult; a reminder that whatever is bothering me doesn’t matter in the long term, and life will move on.

What’s your favorite line from a film?

In Fellowship of The Ring when Frodo tells Sam that he’s going on alone, and Sam responds with, “Of course you are, and I’m coming with you!”

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

I’m not just saying this because he’ll probably read it, but Chip is one of the first to come to mind. He’s a great boss, and I’ve already learned so much from him.
