National Day of Unplugging

This Friday is the National Day of Unplugging! As we at Bigger Brains know, looking at a screen day after day can be tiring and lonely. This is why we encourage people to relax after work and spend a screen-free evening with their loved ones.

A day without screens has been almost non-existent, especially since stay-at-home orders have been put in place. For some people, a day without screens seems tedious, while others see it as a day of peace. No matter what your personal beliefs are regarding this issue, we can all agree that making memories with loved ones is irreplaceable.

Since most places are still on lockdown, a day without electronics can seem like just sitting in an empty room. That could not be further from the truth! There are lots of activities that are still available to everyone.

Getting Outside

Nature is something that is all around us and provides limitless opportunities. Biking, nature walks, hammocking, and having a bonfire are just some of the activities people can experience during this holiday. Since most people have been locked inside to work or school from home, spending a day outside is a good idea for general health.

Board Games

If you are not interested in spending the day outside, there are still activities to engage with inside. Board games and puzzles are back in style and classic tools to fight boredom! From the older classics like Monopoly and Life to newer releases like Codenames or Clue, board games are the perfect way to bring loved ones together and create new memories. Puzzles are great for families since they are appropriate for all levels and can engage the brain as well as younger to older kids.

New Traditions

For those who treasure family and memories that can be made, maybe making new, or embracing old, family traditions is how you would rather spend this national holiday. Whether this means busting out the old photo albums, or experimenting with recipes, this day is an open opportunity to reconnect with the important parts of your life.

Overall, it doesn’t matter what you decide to do with this screen-free day as long as you spend it doing something you enjoy! From all of us at Bigger Brains, we wish you a happy National Day of Unplugging and we’ll be here for any work-related tasks you may have the following Monday.
