The Benefits Behind Understanding How Microsoft 365 Works

Anyone can show up to an office from 9 to 5, look busy, and call it work. The real job is understanding how you are supposed to work. Maybe you’ve never had an office job before, or perhaps you need a brief refresh. Regardless of your background, knowing how Microsoft 365 is designed will help make your work life easier and more intentional.

How will understanding Microsoft 365 help me?

Microsoft 365 is a combination of apps and services that you can purchase monthly or annually from Microsoft. These combinations of apps and services can change depending on what kind of subscription you have from Microsoft. Because of these differences, people must know what apps and services are available in their plan to determine how to use them.

From a business perspective, making sure employees are aware of the apps and services available can open lots of doors for opportunities in the workplace. When employees are fully aware of what they can create inside Microsoft Excel, they may find new solutions to company problems. Similarly, when workforce members are correctly educated in Microsoft Word, they may develop templates that dramatically cut down time spent on projects in the future.

But I thought employees didn’t like training?

Actually, employees don’t like boring training. If you present employees with essential and applicable training materials, they appreciate it! A 2021 survey showed that 76% of employees say that a company would be more appealing if it offered additional skills training to its staff. Additionally, 70% of employees stated that they would be somewhat likely to leave their current job to work for an organization known for investing in employee development and learning.

So what does this mean for a company that doesn’t invest in employee training? It means they need to get their priorities straight! Being willing to spend a little more to provide your employees with quality training is cheaper than dealing with employee turnover in the long run. Additionally, providing new employees with in-depth training from the beginning sets your employees up to continue growing for the rest of their careers.

Even if you may not see the benefits of in-depth training now, you will see them in the future. You can either see it in your competition as they grow and provide opportunities for their employees to help the company advance or see it in person within your organization and employees.
